As we enter another year of the COVID-19 pandemic, our staff at Cornerstone Pharmacy and Compounding remain committed to helping the residents of Central Arkansas stay healthy and vaccinated!

We’re keeping our pharmacy fully stocked with Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech COVID vaccines. Our team is proud to offer same-day, next-day and walk-in COVID vaccine appointments free of charge! The COVID-19 vaccines are available at the pharmacy Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Who Can Get a COVID Vaccine or Booster?

Children 6 Months – 4 Years

Children ages 6 months – 4 years old are now eligible for the primary series of either the Moderna or the Pfizer-BioNTech series as recommended by the CDC.

Pfizer-BioNTech:
Approved for Children
6 Months – 4 Years

The Pfizer-BioNTech primary series comprises three doses of the vaccine. The second dose is given 3-8 weeks after the first dose and the third dose is given at least 8 weeks after the second dose. Boosters are not yet recommended for children of this age group.

Moderna:
Approved for Children
6 Months – 4 Years

The primary series for the Moderna vaccine consists of two doses given 4-8 weeks apart. A Moderna booster dose is not currently recommended for children of this age group.

Children 5-11 Years

Pfizer-BioNTech:
Children 5-11 Years

Children ages 5-11 years old are eligible for their primary series of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, which consists of two doses given 3-8 weeks apart. A booster vaccine is recommended 5 months after the second dose is administered.

Moderna:
Children 5-11 Years

Children ages 5-11 years old can receive their primary series of the Moderna vaccine, which is comprised of 2 doses given 4-8 weeks apart. A booster dose is not recommended at this time.

Children and Teens 12–17 Years

Children and teens ages 12–17 years old are considered up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccines once they have met the following criteria:

Pfizer-BioNTech:
Children and Teens
12–17 Years

For Pfizer-BioNTech, it is recommended by the CDC that 12–17-year-olds finish their primary series and receive a booster dose 5 months after they complete their primary series vaccines.

The Pfizer-BioNTech primary series is comprised of two doses of the vaccine. The second dose is given 3-8 weeks after the first dose.

Moderna:
Children and Teens
12–17 Years

Children and teens ages 12-17 are considered up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccines once they have completed their two primary doses of the Moderna vaccine. The second dose should be administered 4-8 weeks after the first dose. A booster dose has not been recommended by the CDC.

Adults Ages 18+

Pfizer-BioNTech:
Adults 18+ Years

The primary series of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine consists of two doses given 3–8 weeks apart. The first booster dose is recommended for adults that are at least 5 months after the final dose in the primary series. A second booster dose is recommended for adults ages 50 years and older, at least 4 months after their first booster.

Moderna:
Adults 18+ Years

The primary series of Moderna vaccines for adults 18+ is two doses given 4–8 weeks apart. A booster dose is recommended for all adults who have completed their primary series at least 5 months prior. A second booster dose is recommended for adults ages 50+ at least 4 months after the first booster.

Vaccine Guidelines for Moderately
to Severely Immunocompromised Individuals

For moderately to severely immunocompromised individuals, the CDC recommends a slightly different vaccine schedule. For information about who falls into this category, please refer to the CDC guidelines outlined here. 

Pfizer-BioNTech:
Immunocompromised Children
6 Months–11 Years

It is recommended that children 6 months to 11 years complete their primary series of the Pfizer-BioNTech, which comprises three doses of the vaccine. The second dose is given 3-8 weeks after the first dose and the third dose is given at least 8 weeks after the second dose.

Children, 5–11 years of age may receive a booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine at least three months after completing the primary series. 

Moderna:
Immunocompromised Children
6 Months–11 Years

The primary series for the Moderna vaccine consists of two doses given 4-8 weeks apart. A Moderna booster dose is not currently recommended for children of this age group.

Pfizer-BioNTech:
Immunocompromised
Children and Adults 12+

Moderate to severely immunocompromised individuals over the age of 12 should receive their primary series of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, which comprises three doses of vaccine. The second dose is given three weeks after the first dose and the third dose is given four weeks after the second dose.

This group is eligible for a fourth dose at least three months after the third dose and a fifth dose at least four months after the fourth dose.

Moderna:
Immunocompromised
Adults 18+

The primary series for the Moderna vaccine consists of two doses given four weeks apart. A Moderna booster dose is recommended at least three months after the third dose and four months after the fourth dose.

Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines are currently approved for children six months and older as well as all adults.

The Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines are safe and effective and severe reactions after vaccination are rare. 

If I have tested positive for COVID-19, should I and can I still get the vaccine?2022-08-01T18:37:42+00:00

It is recommended by the CDC to wait until your suggested quarantine period is up before getting a booster dose. You do not need to wait longer than the suggested quarantine period to get a booster vaccine. 

I’ve received the vaccine. Will I test positive on a COVID-19 test?2022-08-01T18:38:03+00:00

No, you will not test positive on a COVID-19 test from the vaccine itself. Please note that it takes two weeks for vaccines to reach their full effectiveness once they have been administered. This means there is a chance that you could become infected with the virus after you receive the vaccine.

Vaccines are available for individuals six months of age and older for free, regardless of insurance status.
